Achilles Tear
The Basics
The achilles is a large tendon connecting the calve muscle to the heel bone. It is an important tendon that allows walking, running, jumping, and other crucial activities. This injury is common in sports, explosive movements, awkward landing, and direct trauma.

Signs and symptoms
Some symptoms of achilles tear include sudden pain near the back of the ankle, popping sensation, difficulty walking and weakness, and bruising.
Treatment
Basic treatment includes imaging and a physical examination to determine the severity of the injury. For non operative treatment, your physician may suggest casting/applying a boot and physical therapy. Depending on the severity and the situation, your physician may suggest operative treatment.
